Belief in Astrology

"Believing" in astrology makes no sense to me.
It is nonsense to say, "I believe in it,"
because belief is something you do when you have no direct experience.
Astrology is something that requires experience and hands-on work
to see whether it conveys any meaning or relevance.
So, it is like saying, "Do you believe in your car?"
No, I just drive it.
I have no idea how it runs, but if it works, well, fine.
People who say they believe in astrology are either using the wrong word
or don't know what they are talking about.
-Liz Greene

I don't believe in astrology.
But then again, I don't believe in a monkey wrench.
If it is the right tool, however, I'll use it.
-James Hillman (paraphrased)

I believe in astrology for the same reason
believe in the intoxicating effects of alcohol.
It works.
-Grant Lewi

Astrology is not a belief system;
it is a language of the dynamic interplay
between our interior life
and the exterior world.
-Caroline Casey

My evenings are taken up
very largely with astrology.
I make horoscope calculations
in order to find a clue
to the core of psychological truth.
-Carl Jung

As we all know, science began with the stars,
and mankind discovered in them the dominants of the unconscious,
the “gods” as well as the curious psychological qualities of the Zodiac:
a complete projected theory of human character.
- Carl Jung

Many people assume, for instance, that astrology is all nonsense.
It is true that astrology has nothing to do with the stars.
The horoscope may say that you were born in Taurus,
but the constellations today have moved
and horoscopes no longer correspond to the actual positions of the stars. …
But people criticize astrology as though it had something to do with the stars.
-Carl G. Jung
